What an amazing experience and talk about a run with a view.....but oh my goodness HILLS, definelty not a Marathon for the faint hearted.
The registration process was really simple, you could collect your number any time over 3 days previous to the start.
On race day not only was everyone amazingly friendly but while we were off running our poor feet up crazy hills, anyone waiting back at the race village could take part in canoeing, wall climbing, kids races, trail runs, food stalls and a beer tent! My family have never enjoyed me going off to run so much before.
The Marshals were amazing and the water stations perfect with both isotonic drinks and water. There are pockets of the race with little local support but that's the nature of where you are but where they were they were brill, offering food and drinks and screaming you encouragement.
I would say if your after a pb, pick a different race but if you want a challenge and you want to enjoy some stunning scenery then I'd definitely recommend.
This was my 2nd ever marathon and I'm planning to return so definitely suitable for the novice marathoners too.
5/5 on all accounts for me
