← St illtyds Trail Race

I got drawn into this race by the thought of cake every 10k and it didn’t disappoint, I was sold thanks to Del and Ants

We made a whole weekend of this by staying over locally Saturday and Sunday night, spending the weekend with friends some we’ve met before and some we haven’t made it even better.

Waking up at 6am on raceday and opening the hotel curtains to find a mist descending on us was quite a shock as weather said it would be 20C plus. So down to breakfast and I demolished a full English before heading off to the start.

I didn’t know what to expect as this was my first ultra but knew we’d get thru it as we were with our running family #visorclub

Off we went at 9am just as the sun came out, first 4 miles were flat before we headed into the trails and the hills, hills and more hills. With the out and back course it was great to see other runners on the return leg so you got to say hello to everyone during the run. Checkpoints were well stocked and I feasted on cheese, sausage rolls and sweets for most of the run. Marshalls were amazing at every checkpoint to keep morale up and also special mention to Katerina and Merit for appearing in random places to cheer us on!!
