Having toyed with the idea of a duathlon for a while I finally took the plunge when I spotted this one. It was not clear exactly how to enter but a quick email to the organisers and I got a fast response to let me know. Its not a big event, run by a local tri club but they do a great job!
Having entered, I was a little apprehensive about it being my first race involving a bike (I am a runner) but I shouldn't have worried. It was a very wet day and they were a little delayed but this was all communicated well on the day and the breifing went off without a hitch, just could have done with being told about the sharp turn on the final run as I nearly missed it!
The race was very well organised, over a race track, 1 run lap, 6 on the bike (or 10 on the long version) and then 1 final run lap (or 2 for the long version). It was very clear as to the transition area and marshalls were very friendly and helpful.
The medal was eco friendly and made of wood, as the club are celebrating their 30th birthday we also got a branded water bottle and the free race photos were a bonus!
As a beginner to multi event races I would say this is a great one to do as your first, or to get a PB, probably not if you like something more undulating or scenic as the race track is what it is!
