← Resolution Run Swindon

The Stroke association resolution run Swindon is held in the grounds of Lydiard Park to the Western side of Swindon.

Registration for the event is simple and entry fee is reasonable, the basis of the event is a 5K loop of the park, with runners able to enter the 5K, 10K or 15K event, a great mixture that opens it up to the whole family. Updates and emails are plentiful with the Tech T shirt (included in the entry fee) and fund raising pack all arriving pre-event. Issues with water sodden car parks were notified well in advance and dealt with well on the day, the parking fees all go to the upkeep of the house and grounds (£2.00 for 2hrs £4.00 all day).

There is a pre-event warm up and possibly a briefing but we could not hear it, course info was posted on social media pre event. The route mainly on gravel paths and a short section on grass was well signposted with plenty of cheerful marshals with a single water and jelly baby station at around 2.5K (passed on each lap).

The park is open to the public so in places you do encounter startled dog walkers and family's out for a Sunday stroll, this didn’t seem to cause any issues and generally added to the atmosphere.

Although for this year there was a simple timing system in place I would not consider this as a race more a fun run, the start was a little congested but this does thin out within the first K, it would be helpfull for faster runners to be nearer the front.

The route is pleasant with a couple of minor undulations, and the support is good especially near the event hub & cafe, it does seem to be slightly under the advertised 5K, the finishers medals are good quality with the ribbons marked either 5K 10K or 15K.

All in all a great event, one for all the family, reasonably priced and in aid a very good cause its very well organised and is really friendly ,  Certainly do it again next year
