Entered at fairly short notice as the rescheduled date fitted nicely with a long run, but despite contacting BHF to try and find out if they would be sending my number or needed to collect, I heard nothing. Thankfully, race number plopped through the post box in time but better communication would have helped.
The good:
Lovely, undulating route through the countryside; mainly country lanes and pretty countryside. The ups and downs are more interesting and better for my legs than plodding along on the flat! Local support in the last village of Hampton on the Hill was excellent. The race village was better organised than last year, and baggage was manned this year. The t-shirt had the race name on it (yay!). Lots of local parking and a good atmosphere at the race.
Needs improvement: The t shirt is still a bit naff really. Same with the medal. The race costs over £30! You don't get a lot for your money. Given the size and scale of BHF events, they are missing a trick in terms of getting some really good medals or t shirts or goodies to make their events more enticing, and ultimately raise more money for their charity.
