I thoroughly enjoyed this race as part of my Marathon training. Very recommended if you are doing London, Brighton, Milton Keynes etc. Perfect timing for me too so was great for my training plan.
The course was great and really well marshalled. Plenty of water stops and lots of support throughout the course in general. Being part of the Redway Runners as well helps. But there were lots of other locals who were very friendly and cheering everyone on.
Fabulous medal and T-Shirt and great service when collecting bags at the end. Pre race communication was all really clear so I knew exactly what to do on race day.
I liked the course, very flat and well laid out. A few people commented on there being a few grassy areas, but this didn't bother me. Wasn't as muddy as expected either with the amount of bad weather recently.
A few things that could be worked on for next year but I'm sure the race organisers know this already. Plus it being the first race, you can expect things to work on.
Paper cups were hard to drink out of. Because this was a training run and not a race as such for me I was happy to stop to take on water.
Not enough toilets at the start area, I was in the queue for most of my time before the race. I didn't panic as again it was a training run, but if this was a 10K or half, I wouldn't have had time to warm up and get myself to the start line with much time.
Easy things to rectify for next year and didn't impact my experience at all.
Course registered slightly long, but again, as a training run, not fussed. Many people recorded different distances so GPS around some areas of the course may not have been accurate. A few extra hundred metres helped with my confidence on a long run too!
All in all, a great event and I will definitely be back next year!
