I took part in the half-marathon event and this was my first race outside of the UK. And I’ve really enjoyed my stay.
The events were, on the whole very well organised. Getting everyone to the right place at the right time was fine with enough gap between the start of the marathon and HM to ensure there wasn’t a collision between the two races.
The half marathon is an out and back course up the main road from Molos to the Amathus Ruins. Although you do get glimpses of the sea, it’s basically 6.5 miles of buildings there and back. Today was quite warm and there was a headwind on the outward leg which I struggled with in the second half of the race; that’s a lack of experience on my behalf!
The after race party was a great event and far better than I was anticipating. Great band!
Just a couple of things which could have been better. And both are relatively easy fixes too which is good.
1 - The baggage collection after the race was a little chaotic. My bag was lost for some considerable time before being located.
2 - lack of toilet roll in the portaloos. Seems they had run out well before the race started which was a problem.
Well done Limassol!
