← TTP Cambridge Half Marathon

This was my second year doing Cambride Half. There were a couple of issues with last years event, mostly centered around the baggage area. Last year, there were humongous queues to drop off and collect baggage, leaving runners cold prior to race start and cold waiting for baggage post race.

This year was much improved - they appear to have sorted the baggage by surname rather than by wave which meant that collection of baggage was super quick.

We got park and ride this year, just like last year. Getting to the race village easy, no queues or waiting for buses.

Layout of race village was alot clearer. Plenty of toilets - though, they were not restocking toilet rolls fast enough and most ran out quite early which isn't good.

Foils were provided pre and post race to keep warm when waiting around.

I dont remember the course being much different to last year. The first couple of miles were alittle congested but opened up to wide long roads - course is fast and flat for the most part and definitely has PB potential.

Water stations and gels at 4 points of the route and spaced out nicely, just where needed.

Support throughout the whole course was incredible, especially in the city but even in the rural villages were amazing.

Medal was decent and goodie bag was too.

Midsummer common was a bit of a mudbath after we finished and was very slippery, could have done with some mats or something on the grass to prevent slipping over.

One thing important to mention is probably value for money. Race entry was £38, then adding £2 for postage if you couldnt get to the city the day prior to pick up your packs. park and ride was then an extra £4. if you didnt buy your ticket and bought on the day, on the day price was £7.

totalling £44 for a half marathon is quite steep. You do not get a tshirt or anthing included, that was extra - I have run other half marathons at better value for money with extras included.

However, this year, race photos were free from sportscam when shared to your facebook profile. Higher quality photos were available from sportscam for £14.

Despite the price of entry, I would do the race again as I really enjoy it the course, the support and the overall race experience.
