← Cancer Research UK London Winter Run

My first impression of arriving at Trafalgar Square was that everything was really well sign posted.  Toilets were easy to find and the queues were practically non existent. Always a bonus for me.  I dropped my bag at the bag check and the queues were short there too.  However you could only use the bags provided and I found them a little bit small.

Having dropped everything off, I was really, really cold so headed to the merchandise stand and bought a base layer.  The merchandise is all white or ice blue with polar bears on.  It seems decent quality too.

The race itself was well organised too.  There were a few waves, possibly 9 or more.  I was running with 6 friends and we were in four different waves, but we all walked to the start line together unchecked.  This was fine for us as we were going to be finished towards the second half of the field so wouldn’t be slowing people down.

The race was fast and flat, and we were entertained all the way around. Drummers, rock choir, people dressed as penguins, polar bears, husky dogs and yetis.  All good fun.

There was one water station which wasn’t well prepared, they were unwrapping the water and people had to stop to get a bottle, it could have been a blip though.

At the finish, medals were given to you directly, and a Soreen mini malt loaf.  What has happened to goody bags?  I suppose it saves on the waste and the endless leaflets from Hello Fresh. My text telling me my finish time arrived very soon after crossing the line.

The medal was really nice, but it’s not even the official medal, apparently they’re stuck in customs and they’ll be sent to us soon.

Definitely one for next year.
