After completing several Great North Runs I decided to try a Great Run event closer to home so decided to sign up for the Great Birmingham Run in 2013.
As with all Great Run organised events the email communication prior to the event and the race pack is excellent.
The pacers at the start could have been organised better, I got as close as I could, appprox 10 rows back, to the Pacer I wanted to follow but as the start of the course was narrow groups one one side of the road were stopped to allow the other side of the road to go. When I was released the pacer was long gone, never to be seen again.
The atmosphere created by the spectators made the 13.1 miles very enjoyable except for the large hill after mile 10. My Garmin says the total elevation gain was 598m.
Thoroughly enjoyable event. Great Run events are always well run but it does cost more than other events.
