← RunThrough Chase the Moon Olympic Park - November

I arrived at the Olympic Park excited for the new Chase the moon series with Runthrough . The place was already busy and bustling  with runners and there  was a great vibe in the air. As usual the registration process took just moments ,  this time the runthrough team were offering glow Rings to be worn for the run , I thought it was a great idea for a night run . With bib and chip attached I headed for the bag drop  area which again is a smooth and quick process. I briefly saw a couple of friends and then headed to the start where the runners were already warming up happily to the invited instructor. At 7 o’clock the race started as planned. The Olympic Park  is particularly well lit but where the route took to darker areas the runthrough team had placed high beam lights for added vision . All along the route the runthrough crew were enthusiastically supportive and gave much needed support to many I’m sure ,I know they did me.  I only decided at the 5K point  that I would run the 10k so instead of going right I went left to continue.  Although I was running without a friend or another runner I didn’t feel at all alone  but instead very much a part of a happy , almost family like running event.  By the time I got to about 9k I realised I couldn’t hear any ‘feet’ behind me and it was then that it crossed my mind that  I was last.  As I got closer to the 10k  finish I said to one of the encouraging  Runthrough crew ‘ I’m last aren’t I’?  He said to me “it doesn’t matter you’re doing so well”. To be honest I didn’t really mind, I felt happy.  I finished the 10K in with the encouragement of another member of the Runthrough  crew he grabbed my hand and we crossed the finish line together big smiles all round .  The final part of the event of the evening was to go and get my fantastic flap jack,  banana and drink . The Runthrough flapjacks have become synonymous and famous at Runthrough events . I would highly recommend the Chase  the moon events especially if you live close to the Olympic Park or if you like running at night.

By the way I wasn’t quite last but I wouldn’t have cared anyway .I achieved a 10k Run - how cool is that
