← Run in Marseille

First it must be a Pb course as this is where I got my current Marathon Pb it is fairly flat.

Trip from the Airport is quite a treck best is the airport bus, this will drop you at the main train station.  Do not bother looking for tickets as bus accepts cards and cash.

Number pickup is down by the old port which is a very nice area to relax.

Number pick up is quick one you are past the medical certificate police.

Instructions clear for the race.

Very early start as it is a bus job out to the start point.  Plentiful number of buses and we'll marshalled by the volunteers.

The start point really is a collection of houses in the middle of nowhere where time forget.  That's after a 1km trek to get there as the buses had to stop pre town.  As there are a few hours to kill no real issue.  Not much to do until race starts.  However the mood is jovial and the music is pumping out.  Looking around you could be in Greece more than France due to the med climate of the area.

As for the run, on a nice day as this was running along the Med is never a hardship in early spring.  You do this until you get to the edge of the city at which point you start a 2 lap sections.  Mainly containing the house racing track and the treck down the front to the old port again. Giving you a gimplse of the end before making you run though the town past the main square the football stadium and back to the race course, then back along the front to finish.

As with a lot of races they have a half and 10km going on.  I got mixed in with half people on my second lap.  But roads are very wide and was enough room to navigate.

Decent finish along the old port, bling OK and decent shirt in with the price.

Trek back to the trainstation all up hill if you in rush to get back to the airport.

All on all. Slick well run race. If you are down that way worth doing.
