Had to sign up and support a local company, especially when its a stones throw from where I live!
You have to pick up your race bib on the day. Changing areas and proper toilets avaialble here, no queueing for a stinky portaloo. Bonus. Race HQ is a football clubhouse so you or family/supporters can get a coffee and sit down. Short hop over the road to the start.
My only real gripe was I couln't hear a word of the briefing at the start, need a louder megaphone guys! But having read the email, it's not hard to get, just follow everyone.
This a 2 lap route around The Knavesmire racecourse, think York parkrun but with a grassy muddy bit thrown in.....twice over. Whilst a 2 lap course isn't to my liking at least you know when you're half way :) I personally found it a bit boring doing it all over again.
Super flat if thats what you're looking for, but not really PB potential due to slippy, muddy nature of parts of the route.
Cupped water and jellybabies/haribo available to help yourself too at a little feed station set up.
Due to nature of the course no local support apart from people at the start/finish area. Advised against headphones too, although I'd definately run with music next time.
Great marshalls, smiley, friendly and encouraging. Perfect.
Free homemade cake at the finish!
Great unique medal and sweetie filled goodie bag, handed to you by friendly organisers, free bottled water available to help yourself to also.
Great value entry fee.
First time I've done a small event and it was a nice change from the big boys like GNR or RunForAll. You don't get the chip timing and whole shebang like a big event, but you do get a nice friendly, well organised, value for money event that I would highly recommend you try.
Will most likely take part again next year.
