← Matalan 10k

This was the 1st ever 10k race I had done (or any race at all apart from a parkrun!) I was quite anxious and got there quite early desperately needing the toilet! The marshalls were vert helpful and guided us to a parking space (very busy car park) and then directed me to the nearest toilet. It was a fair walk to the start, but i just walked quickly and used it as my warm up walk! There were toilets at the start but there were quite large queues! (although I was able to get through the queue in time for the start - the race started about 5 mins late) The announcements from the PA were nice and clear (which was good as I had no clue what I was doing!) The race was well signposted and there were plenty of marshalls around. Around the 5k mark there was a water station which was in a wooded area and was very slippy and muddy by the time I got there so I had to walk for a bit! There were more marshalls towards the end of the route which was good as some people were starting to flag (me!) and they gave some great support and the last half km there were big crowds which was nice and supportive and another PA at the finish line shouting out everyones name.

All in all for my 1st race I was pretty happy - it seemed well organised and pretty well supported. The only negative was the very muddy section by the 5k/water station area and the medal was pretty but just rubber!

I would recommend it and it made me immediately book my next 10k!
